New Project

Okay I am testing a new product that is being presented to me for publication.  I'm going to start with some of my darker poetry as the first project.  What do you think of this as the blurp. Would you read on after reading this?

Gay Marriage

These past few days I have heard more about gay marriage than I have in the past year. I have to ask the question, WHO CARES?

For all of you that are scared of letting gays get married, and lets be honest here, it IS fear guiding you, answer me this, why?

Do NOT give me the poor excuse of “The Bible Says,” because if that is your only argument then you need to sit down and shut up until you can stop being a sheep and think for yourself.

There is NO logical reason why two people who are of sound mind and body, are of legal age, and are in love can not get married. Everyone deserves to be happy and LOVE is the biggest contributor to this happiness.

Okay now back to you Bible thumpers.  I’m going to do what you do, take things out of context and twist it so it makes my argument. Here goes.

“Faith, Hope, and Love. And the greatest of these is Love.” – This one I hear all the time in religious weddings. God has given us these three things to live our lives. Faith in our fellow man, Hope that all things will be good, and Love for one another as God has loved us. Love conquers all, does it not?

Didn’t Jesus himself say to love your enemy and hold him closer to you than your brother? God makes it rain on the righteous and unrighteous alike. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Are you saying that you know better than Jesus?

The Ten Commandments says NOTHING about homosexuals. There is only one place, ONE where the Bible having relations between two men should be punished with death but don’t get too excited because there are a LOT of things listed that you should be put to death for. If you’re going to quote Leviticus Chapter 20 then by all means PLEASE read the entire chapter so we can all be put to death together.

I could go on but I think you get the point, there is no use in beating a dead horse further. It’s not marriage you should support but LOVE. If two people love each other than who are YOU in stand in their way?

What God has put together let no man pull apart.”

Make no mistake about it, if two people are in love, God has put them together.

Ten Rules To Dating My Daughter

As much as I hate to admit it, I know I don’t have much say in the matter. My daughter is getting older and soon dating will come into play. I DO, however, have a few rules that are going to be nonnegotiable, at least until she’s an adult and out on her own, but I have a feeling these rules will still apply.

 

1. You MUST have a legal job and your own transportation, something with 4 wheels and a full cover frame. If you want to date my daughter then you must be able to pay for the date. I am not going to pay you to take my daughter out nor will I be your chauffeur.

2. You have to know how to handle a firearm properly, as well as hit your target. Be it pistol, rifle, or shotgun, you must know how to use them. As a man it’s your job to be able to protect my daughter not her protect you. If she can hit the bulls eye then why can’t you?

3. Criminals need not apply. I’m a firm believer in second chances but if you are a thug or mostly a “wanna be” thug then thug on down the road. I promise you will not last long around me because this is one subject I will not play games with, period.

4. You must like Star Wars. There may be some leeway with this but not much. If you can’t get the references she will make to Star Wars then there really is not much point to keeping you around.

5. Seafood is a must. You personally do not have to like it but do not try to deny her or it will get ugly.  This is a girl who loves her seafood and has no problem catching it herself.

6. You will have to like Hockey.  She loves going to see a Hockey game and if you wish to date her then you must be willing to take her to a game or two.

7. Embrace your inner nerd. Your love for Sci-Fi must show. You have to have an open mind. This applies to a multitude of things. Reading books, comic books, science fiction, or any subject along the lines of science. If you don’t like to read or can not carry on a conversation I can promise you there will be clashing.

8. You have to be a Movie Buff because my daughter loves movies. She has a routine when it comes to movies and I do not see it slowing down anytime soon. This is where your love of Sci-Fi will come in handy.

9. Music is a major part of her life so it must play a major part in your life as well. Trying to fight this fact is like trying to cap a volcano; it’s never going to happen. If you do not like music you will have to keep on with your boring self.

10. Vampires are real. This is where your open mind comes in because my daughter is a vampire.  No she does not drink blood so get that out of your mind. You must be willing to embrace the fact that she is a paranormal creature, like her father, and that she is drawn to the Supernatural. 

These thoughts come from her own way of thinking and I have nothing to do with it. She likes what she likes and you have to accept it, I have.

Thank You For The Ride

Cost of living is up and on the rise while the cost TO live remains where it has been for years. Sadly, due to this fact, Writing With Power is shutting it’s doors for good. I can no longer continue to compete with major publishing corporations.

I did not come to this decision lightly but I can no longer throw good money after bad. I love reading, I love to write, and I love the fans, the good friends I’ve made over the years due to my writing.  What has been printed will be what’s left of my work. I have a few projects that I will finish as promised.

The ONLY place I will write anything will be on my blog, http://writingwithpower.blogspot.com, the ebooks that I have will remain but that is the best I can do. To continue doing what I’m doing I would have to pay 3x’s the cost of what I did last year, a product of Big Brother.

I gave it my all but sometimes your all is not enough. I had a great run and enjoyed the ride but I am not completely gone. I thank all of you who have supported me over the years.

Proud of my child

Every parent wants their child to have it better than they did, to be better than they are. At times I consider myself to be a pretty good writer. When my daughter started writing I was proud of her. Today I found a short story she left by accident. It's for school and she scored a hundred on it.
Granted the grammar isn't all there and there are a few run on sentences but she's in the 6th grade and shes only 12yrs old. I'm out of school and my grammar is sometimes worse but its the story that matters.
As I read this story I'm amazed at how good it is. I'm so proud of her, at 12 years old she's a better writer than I am now at 35. WOW!
